Ian McLaughlan

Ian McLaughlan is a graduate of the University of Canterbury of Kent (BA in Informal Education), City University Business School’s (Diploma in Voluntary Sector Advanced Management Programme) and the ACOSVO / Social Enterprise Academy’s (ILM accredited Leading Edge programme).

He has worked in community learning and development, in the voluntary youth work and early years sectors, for 30 years and has been Chief Executive of Youth Scotland since 2013. Youth Scotland is the national network for over 1300 youth groups and projects engaged in community based youth work and in promoting the informal learning needs of over 61,000 young people in Scotland.

In the past, Ian has served the sector in a variety of voluntary roles as a Trustee and Chair of ACOSVO; as a member of the YouthLink Scotland Board and Policy Forum; SCVO Policy Committee; and on UK Youth’s Board of Trustees.

Currently, Ian sits on the national voluntary youth work organisations’ chief officers’ group of YouthLink Scotland; a member of the CLD Standards Council’s Executive Committee and Vice Chair and Trustee of the Cattanach Charitable Trust.
