Claire Stevens

Chief Executive
Voluntary Health Scotland

Since her appointment in 2012 Claire has led a programme of change that has seen VHS build a reputation for punching above its weight as Scotland’s national intermediary for health charities and other voluntary organisations involved in health.  Under her leadership VHS has set out to close the health inequalities gap by making it ‘everyone’s business’ and to realise the vision of a healthier, fairer Scotland served by a thriving voluntary health sector. Claire is currently an active contributor to Scotland’s public health reform programme, through her membership of the Public Health Reform Oversight Board, Protecting Scotland’s Health Commission and Scottish Public Health Network Advisory Board. She is also a member of the Implementation Group for the Scottish Government’s loneliness and social isolation strategy, A Connected Scotland.

Previously, Claire held a wide range of executive and non-executive roles in Scotland’s third and public sectors in a career spanning welfare rights, homelessness, older people, children and young people, and social action. She is a former Convenor and Board member of ACOSVO. She currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the charities Impact Funding Partners and Bridgend Inspiring Growth.
