My internship journey with ACOSVO

It all started with a question, “do you want to do your internship in Belgium or abroad?” Easy question if you ask me, of course abroad! So I applied for an intern position at ACOSVO. I had never been in Scotland before, but wow what I’ve been missing.

In three wonderful months I learned a lot. Before I came here I had a basic computer knowledge but that changed quickly. With the motto "have a play around" I explored Excel, Publisher, Eventbrite, Canva... In a short time I learned a lot and lived the ACOSVO values (including knowing the CMYK ACOSVO brand colours in my head :) ).

There was a lot of variation in my tasks, from creating my own spreadsheets to attending ACOSVO events’ to decorating the office & foodbank for Christmas, there was never a boring day.

The task I am most proud of is the Staff Survey, this involved making a survey, sending it round the team and compiling a report based on the responses. I then discussed the results at a team meeting and suggested improvements. Another favourite was creating a spreadsheet of meeting & event spaces, both office spaces and café, conferences and social enterprises. There was definitely enough to keep me busy.

I loved being part of the ACOSVO team. Team activities are often, my favourite was ice skating together on St. Andrews Square instead of our usual Wednesday walk. The whole team is open, friendly and always ready to help you.

I wish ACOSVO all the best and can’t thank them enough for this great internship!
