ACOSVO's Interim Executive Service - One Year On...

With one year of ACOSVO’s Interim Executive Service already ‘in the bag’, we thought it would be a good time to reflect on how the service is going, some of the core learnings, and what we aim to achieve going forward.


Over the coming weeks we’ll be sharing some key quotes, thoughts from our host organisations, and blogs from some of our placed Interims, all culminating in a reflection event for our current pool of interims to reflect, network, and share learning. 


The service was launched in April 2018 to provide third sector organisations, and outgoing CEO’s, completely tailored access to expert, experienced interims to support leadership transition within their organisation. It can be accessed both as a support to an organisation when there is a temporary gap in leadership and/or as a support to Chief Officers in times of need. The service also offers Senior Management support on a temporary basis.


Phili Wetton, service coordinator, explains more: “For some organistions, they are looking to quickly recruit and induct a replacement Chief Executive but don’t have resource to focus on this task.  For others, there is a temporary gap within the Senior Management Team, a need to restructure the Board of Directors and introduce some basic governance tools, or an interest in an independent strategic overview of the organisation’s sustainability.  Some organisations may also seek support during a time of critical change or in leading a large project such as rebranding, a merger, or an acquisition – whatever the need, the interim service aims to bridge the gap.”
