Active Leadership

  • Do you find your best ideas come to you away from your desk?
  • Does being active gets your creative juices flowing?
  • Do you really have to be sitting round a table to be networking?

As leaders we spend so much time sitting at our desks, or in meetings, that sometime we forget that fresh air and movement feeds the mind (and body). This year ACOSVO launched a new Active Leadership programme to support third sector leaders to de-stress, network, share & develop all while getting healthier and having fun.

In 2017 this took the form of walks and cycles in the Edinburgh area and feedback has been excellent. In 2018 we are casting the net event further. A few dates for your diary include:

  • An 'Active Learning' walk from Haymarket out towards Ratho, taking in the scenic canal, on January 16th to get those new year resolutions off to a good start.
  • The first of our North East Regional Network Leaders Lunches on June 7th have chosen to take part in an Active Leadership session instead of the usual sit down lunch (get in touch if you would like to lead an Active Leadership network in your area).
  • June 14th and 21st August are also held for Active Leadership events however as we want these to be led by you, the leaders, we will be waiting from feedback from the first events to see what works and what doesn't before deciding what form these two activities will take.

Last, and by no means least, ACOSVO is joining EMMS International on a leadership cohort cycling 350km in 6 days in the foothills of the Himalayas and we want you to come too! Join us November 16th - 25th 2018 and consider your leadership journey, visit Nepalese projects, meet leaders from local NGO's, reflect - and participate in Cycle Nepal

Further information about all of these events will be out soon but if you are interested in any or all of these and want to be kept up-to-date please contact us on 0131 243 2755 or office@acosvo.org.uk.
