ACOSVO Masterclasses for Chief Officers are supported by Royal Bank of Scotland
This Masterclass examines the significance of social values in the governance and management of charities and voluntary organisations. It explores the nature and implications of these values and how chief officers might sustain these during periods of change.
Social justice, equality, fairness, empowerment and independence - five key social values for Third Sector Organisations. Adherence to these values can mean acting in ways that may not be the most efficient or cost effective. Ideals and beliefs are powerful motivators of our individual and collective behaviour.
People working in third sector organisations are expected to be driven by intrinsic motivation, i.e. by incentives connected to deep-seated psychological needs to make a difference in some way. How might Chief Officers lead an organisation dedicated to social values in challenging times? How might Chief Officers manage the complexities of their role and remain rooted in a firm set of values?
