Are people really rational beings? Are emotions a distraction in the workplace? This event is an opportunity to explore how the less rational parts of the brain shape our behaviour and how Emotional Intelligence helps us to understand and use this to be more effective as leaders.
Improving Leadership Through Emotional Intelligence
Emotional Intelligence has received endless exposure as a key leadership tool, but does the reality live up to the hype? During the course of the evening David Pardey will take you on a journey to learn a little bit about the structure of the brain, why economic theory ignores real human behaviour and the five factor theory of personality, as well as the principles of emotional intelligence and how you can develop yours! There will also be an opportunity to take part in some simple exercises that demonstrate how normal behaviour is so strongly shaped by non-rational reasoning, and why this makes us work more effectively as social animals.
What will I learn?
