The current context in which we are working is presenting unprecedented challenges, as well as new opportunities, for the third sector. For many Chief Officers, it is requiring new ways of thinking and taking action.

Action learning is widely recognised as a powerful tool to work on complex issues, seemingly intractable ones, through:

•  helping participants to gain new insights;
• exploring ideas and others’ experiences;
• developing collaborative thinking to current challenges;
• resolving issues and sharing learning;
• choosing  possible solutions and thinking through plans for action;
• taking the learning back to your organisation

 You may also gain a new network of trusted colleagues to call on in the future.

This Action Learning set will be an opportunity to think through current and future issues in a structured format, with the support of your peers. Presenting issues may include things like mergers/partnerships, organisational restructuring, motivation of self and others, leading significant change, closing or growing an organisation.

The first meeting will introduce the form of action learning, as well as offer an opportunity to practice. In addition to having the opportunity to work on your own important issues, and learning from the exploration of other members’ issues, you will refine your ability to use the skill of questioning – to offer new perspectives, identify assumptions, generate motivation and new learning, and plan future action.
